Wondering is anybody else is having issues with Window10 audio when using this multi media PC gaming setup :
PC GPU HDMI ( out) -> AVR HDMI ( in) { AVR sends audio to speakers via speaker wire} and also sends video via HDMI (out) to TV HDMI (in).
I have a Nvidia 1070 GPU and a Sony AVR . In windows audio speakers settings it only has 2 channel stereo available - all other settings/options are greyed out. I have tried and retried deleting windows audio drivers, audio manager, and updating/clean install of all Nvidia drivers. Video is great on my 1080P TV and I do hear sound from all 5.1 speakers from my AVR . However, I am not convinced I am actually getting any true 5.1 audio as I think the audio is only a 2 channel signal from the PC but the AVR processes it into 5.1 ( kinda- it does the best it can from the 2 channel signal) . But since win10 fails to even see anything other than 2 speakers in the configuration area I have no way to utilize individual speaker levels in the win10 audio settings. I did this without issues when i was using this exact same setup in windows 7 which immediately showed a 5.1 option and I could control the level of each individual speaker. Is this just a windows 10 fail that cannot be fixed or what?
