I have the HDTV STB connected to the X1 via component and the VGA/Computer breakout adaptor into the Computer input.


HD channels display fine, but as soon as I change to a regular channel, the X1 starts searching for a signal.


My best guess is that the box starts sending out a different type of signal, but I don't know how to set it to default to HDTV all the time.


Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

Answering my own question:


The box needs to be set to send 4:3 material in a suitable format. The cable guy denied any knowlege of a box setup menu. Good thing there's google.


Setting 4:3 override to NONE fixes the problem and all channels are sent in 1080i making the X1 happy.
