The broadcast warm-up for the Daytona 500, i.e., the Busch series race will be HD today at 1 PM Eastern, on Fox.

Today is the test run for my new surround sound levels that I came up with last week just for FOX NASCAR, i.e. it should sound like Days of Thunder in the house. Also, I will be trying out XM 145 in car audio on a little speaker next to my couch to see how that goes.
WNYW-DT NYC. PC Tuner showing DD 5.1.

The HD cams look good. I am still getting the swimming/shimmering grass effect.

It's to bad they can't use HD cams for the pits. They ok on the SD feed but look worse on the HD feed.
An unexpected treat. The listings didn't show it as HD here, but it is.
Need to get them to run a graphic for the pillars on those in-car cams.

Personally, I'd rather they shove the image over and fill the empty space with telemetry, stats, or something.

Edited silly comment out.

I guess they won't do that because of the 4:3 HD sets (ignore them I say!).
That argument doesn't make any sense -- the footage is pillarboxed on a 4x3 HD set (bars on the top, bottom, left, and right).

Ah, silly me. I assumed that 4:3 HD set owners did a full screen or some similar mode.

Thank you.....................komoman ;)
wow my first NASCAR event in HD... all i have to say, is its STILL boring. wow, never thought i'd lose interest in anything HD, i can even stomach Golf in HD. This stuff, while it looks good and sounds good, is still just as boring as it always was to be. Guess its yet another thing that I cant enjoy that a lot of others do... i guess kinda like Ashlee Simpson....
Fox is probably doing this in about 13 or 14 Mbps when full BW would be about 19.3, never mind all the SD cameras! Is anybody else troubled by allowing them to label it HD??
Not impressed, looks no better than FOX WS

WNYW-DT OTA and Directv 88
