It took me over 2 hours to get the video files from my camera to my hard drive in .m2ts using Vista 64 and the latest Image Mixer 3.1.3. It keeps freezing up, then continuing then freezing again. Removing the card and using the card reader with Image Mixer has the same result.

For a test, I put this onto XP Pro with Image Mixer and the file transfer was less than 2 minutes. Very nice... but not my computer.

Is there anything I can do to get this to work on the Vista 64 system? Is there other software that is a good replacement? I like being able to have the files transfered into m2ts with the file renamed with the date and time. It saves me alot of time renaming files. Drag and drop from the card itself are all named 001.mts, 002.mts etc... For a few files, it's not too bad to rename them but when there are many short clips, it's very time consuming.

Are the mts and m2ts even the same files? I have only been using m2ts so far.

Blade,

Do you have the Haali codec installed on the Vista box? If so, find a way to either disable it, or remove it.

As for the file types, not sure. But what I do know is that Pixela will rejoin files that have been split due to the 2Gb file size limit. Could be worth keeping in mind if you do more than about 19mins in one go.

I will check on that codec. Does it come from some specific software?

For the file size, I had about 10 clips all 2-5 minutes long. They were under 2Gb each so that's not it, but good to know. Thanks!

No, I never use Image Mixer to transfer files, I just use a card reader.

After I copied and pasted the files using a card reader, I use this free Bulk Rename Utility to automatically rename all the files with date and time (they have a 64bit version). You can use their GUI version; I personally uses the command line version within a batch file. Just click and run the batch file for me. And you have the flexibility of renaming them into whichever way the file name you desire.

Yes, they are the same; you can rename all of them to m2ts during the above process.
