Hi.

my family is in the serch for a good 37 or more inch LCD for the living room

I myself have a 26 samsung, but my dad is a sony fan, so...he want a bravia.

the thing is...that here in my country the options for good LCD are limited....and the more common are the sony lows end bravia, and below 46 inch

so, the final options are just two:

-Sony bravia KDL-37M4000 720p ----- 1300$ In my country http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665379455

-Sony bravia KDL-40S4100 1080p ---- 1500$ http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665381955

I have been doing some reserch....and it appears that the bravia M4000 series and the samsung A450 are the top of the line of the 720p LCD.

in the other hand, the 40S4100 is the low end 1080p LCD of sony.....it doesnt have the bravia engine.

the specs and features of the 37M4000 are better than the 40S4100..and its cheaper

but the 40S4100 is 1080p and 3 inch bigger.

So...what will be the best one ??

thanks for the help

Get a Panasonic not so low end at low end prices

TC-37LZ85 is cheaper than 32" models of other brands. I think it is as good if not better than the brands you mentioned.

For a little bit more, you can get the Glossy Brighter 120Hz equivalent model i.e. TC-37LZ800 ..... Panasonic uses thehigehr end IPS panels which was one of the main reasons why I bought it.

anyone more ????

Whats your budget and what do you want the TV for? If you dont want to connect to a PS3, computer etc, then a 720p should be good enough.

If you must have the higher resolution, hten go for it. At the end of the day, most panels have similar performance. The engines on top of the panels do a lot of postprocessing which you may or may not need. Eg. I want to use the TV as a panel driven by a PS3. Hence I would not pay a premium for a fancy DSP engine.

YMMV

thanks for the answer.

the TV will be most for bluray movies and regular TV.

actually, the budget its no more of 1500. exactly for the S4100

the others 40 1080p are the samsung A550 (1800$) and the sony V4100 (2000 $) too expensive ....

If your dad likes the SONY, like my dad, just get him the best 1080p Sony you can afford. The differential quality shouldnt be a big deal. Dont buy any other brand.

If you are brand agnostic, try to get a IPS panel. Most top brand LCD TVs are similar (else they will be out of business).

I personally wouldnt pay too much for processing. But thats me. So I would buy the S4100 if you must buy a SONY or the LZ85.

Can you go to a store and compare the models side by side and please adjust the colors to your taste. The factory settings of some TVs are better than others but that might not mean much when you bring it home
