I recently purchased a used Sony G70 CRT projector and hoped to retube it. The problem is it emits a very high frequency noise that my wife can hear. I want to try lining the interior with a sound absorbing material. Anyone have any suggestions for a fairly thin (1" or so) material that would soak up the high frequency sounds? Thanks.

I hope I'm just reading your post wrong. You're not really trying to line the inside of the PJ, right???? A hushbox is your best bet and assume that is what you are looking for.

Check out the CRT forum too. Lots of threads on hushboxes there. Some folks use Linacoustic. Some have used OC 703 or equivalent.

Actually I want to try putting some sound absorbing material inside the projector. Not sure if you've seen a G70 but they are built like a tank. The interior of the projector is all enclosed in a metal cage. I want to put something like Dynamat along the interior of the plastic cover. With it inside the plastic cover there is no chance of it touching anything inside the projector or affect the cooling. I'm trying to avoid the hushbox for now since it will only be in this location for about a year until I finish our new theater.
