Megatron looks like an evil Ent. Good job with Optimus, classic lines.
Can't wait! Loved the toys. Huge bay fan.

They look too "busy". Too many details. I'll reserve final judgement til the movie comes out.

all the "details" are because ILM and bay wanted the transformers to be as true to concept as possible so every single part of teh transformers is actully part of their transformed state. Except for megatron who has no transformation in the movie(he never scans a earth machine for some reason).
Must say I'm not thrilled with some of the robot designs. Seem too similar.
Take a good look at those still photos. The way Bay cuts his movies, not a single one of those images will ever be on screen for more than 1/10th of a second.

These monstrosities bear absolutely no resemblance to the classic characters.

Although Transformers were during my kid's time, still, there needs to be some similarity to the toys.

For those with machines not capable of watching said material below, here's a few screen-caps of the action. Let me first say that these pics are about 1/100th as cool as the trailer itself. I had reservations when I first heard about the movie, and then more when it was a Micheal Bay project. When Spielberg announced he was chiming in, things got better, but the trailers didn't do much. This newest one (posted on May 12th I believe) dispells all that. If the movie is 2 hrs of this stuff that's in the trailer, it will blow everything away in 2007. If not, well at least there's the 10 minutes of Spiderman 3 that was actually good.

**Dial-up WARNING**

Unknown desert Decepticon chasing army dudes:

Jet (Starscream??) landing in the city causing some havoc (this scene was WAY cool!):

Optimus Prime and some bad dude (Megatron??) colliding on the freeway, ala Matrix 2....unbelievable. Really. The scale was too cool for school:

Day shot of Prime. Wish he was the simple red and blue of yester-year, but oh well, I ain't complaining. At least they got the original guy to do his voice (same with the Megatron guy!!!):

How oh how could they screw this up based on what they just showed us?? I guess anything is possible. I hope they make it ultra-violent, Rated R, everything...the works.....don't dumb it down for the masses. Go ALL-OUT. They waited too long to make a GI Joe movie (impossible now), and they screwed up He-Man 2 decades ago. So other than CGI Smurfs or possibly Starblazers, this is Hollywood's last chance at a killer movie based on cartoons from my childhood that I actually watched.

Great shots, I have a few rebuttals to your comments about the pictures:

1. The first picture is of Scorpinok (Decepticon)

2. The second picture is Starscream (great shot)

3. Third picture is Optimus and Bonecrusher

Also, they didn't get the original voice actor to do Megatron, Hugo Weaving (Mr. Smith from the Matrix) is voicing him) and they are going for a PG-13 rating. Hope that helps

"The apparent explanation for the departure from his gun form is that director Michael Bay does not want to include any sort of size changing in the transformations, with the writers describing it as cheating."

OK, I'm going to give Michael Bay some credit for this. The constant scale-changing is something that always bothered me about the Transformers, and I'm glad to see that finally addressed.

Agreed, the most powerful Decepticon needed to be held by one of his disciples in order to cause ruckus

I think these new designs looks awesome! If they made them look like the old cartoon, it would look really cheesey IMO.

I can't wait too see this movie, especially on my own home theater system (whenever it comes out)!

They're certainly as close as they need to be. Why would you want a new movie to feature robots that transformed into '80s looking objects, anyway?

Let's be honest, the original cartoon had some glaring issues. Optimus Prime's disappearing trailer and Megatron transforming into a gun that had to be fired by his second in command are just a few.

This movie won't be perfect. It's Michael Bay so it will have it's fair share of cheesey, forced emotional moments.

This movie will be fun, however. I'm looking forward to seeing some cool robots that realistically transform into cars, trucks, tanks, jets and helicopters. That's really all I'm expecting.

Yeah, the disappearing trailer on Optimus was even weak to me as an 8 year old watching the cartoons. Too bad this isn't going to be an iMax presenation. That would be cool.
I don't know the story behind these robots. But from the picture above of Optimus, it looks like they pick up/scan various objects (like a truck, for example), and incorporate them into their structure. Is that so?

From what I have seen, once they reach earth, they 'scan' an earth vehicle that matches up with them size wise (I guess it should also match whether they are a land or air based vehicle) and use that as their vehicle mode.
