The matterhorn discussion made me wonder if the data rate issue for high resolution DMDs will only be economically solved through a 3 chip solution.
TI had a HD capable DMD almost 10 years ago for DoD but I'm wondering if the combination of fast colorwheels and the much higher resolution is the current tall pole in producing a reliable, decent yield 1080 DMD.
If you go 3 chip you can obviously cut the required refresh rate by 2/3rds.
I'd have done a search but ya know...lunch time and overloaded servers.
