I just bought a Hitachi 42HDT20 plasma display, which uses ALiS technology.

I know a lot of you don't like ALiS, but for the price I paid for the TV, I couldn't complain, (trust me) so I have it.

If you're familiar with ALiS technology, what it essentially boils down to, is that the panel is a 1024x1024 native display... which means it doesn't scale 1080i at all.

Now, what I'm wondering, is if the Bravo D1 would be an ideal DVD solution for the TV?

I already have a Pioneer 563, but I'm not terribly happy with it's picture quality (I bought it for DVD-A/SACD when my RP56 H02'ed on me) and I theorized the D1 being a wonderful companion to this television.

It would seem, if the D1's scaler is as good at 1080i as WSR says it is for 720p that I couldn't do better than this TV and the D1. Anyone have any insight on this??

What does the 42hdt20's manual say about the resolutions supported on the DVI input?

Looks like the Bravo D1 with DVI 1080i or 720p output would be great!
