Okay I've convinced the wife to buy an HDTV 16:9 set and am going with the Hitachi 46w500...due to the deal that they are swinging me at Visions. My question is in regards to the built in DVD player. It states that DD is the only sound output available...now I thought that in order to play DTS all you needed was an outboard tuner that would handle the stream...is this true or does the player need to decode it as well? Just wondering thanks.

Well, sadly, the 46w500 does not output a DTS signal stream. However, don't pass this set up. I bought if the day after X-mas and it hasn't let me down once! The picture is amazing, and it handles true 720p. I was bummed about the lack of DTS, but I just went out and bought a progressive scan Sony DVD player anyway.
