Hitachi 50VG825 Picture Tilt

I've posted about my TV woes in the past. The first hitachi 50V715, 3 light engine failures, (warranty covered), got a Toshiba DLP (HM66) instead (returned due to the rainbow effect) and so today they delivered the Hitachi VG825 model. I really like the Hitachi's, from the picture (when it's right) to the sound and figured I'd give them another chance.

I start watching Lord of the Rings, Return of the King on DVD. It's the widescreen version, so when I expand it to fill the entire screen but still had the horizontal black bars, those are expected. What's not expected is that they are TILTED!!! It's about 1/4" to 3/8" from right to left.

I took a pic of MSNBC with the crawl going to better illustrate it. It's in expanded 4:3 mode, (normally the crawl would be half missing), but if you look at the right, you can make out half the letters, while on the far left only the very top of the letters are present. Same thign on the top as well. Uggghhh

Is there a service menu fix on this? Any ideas?

I would think your light engine might need shimming, I have heard of this before. I own a Hitachi 60v525 and it is great. Had the first set they delivered replaced due to a light engine failure but am really happy with the one i have now. Call for service or get it exchanged until you get a good one. These sets are very underestimated for PQ in my opinion
Thanks for quick response, I was afraid of something like a light engine shimming. And you are right, the PQ is very good.

If it is a new set I would contact where you got it from and ask for a replacement. These sets once calibrated have a very nice PQ and every manufacturer has their own problems. Good luck. Once you set it up let me know where your settings are in comparison to mine. Very similar product from Hitachi
It's new, just delivered this morning.
Exchange for another one that is what I would do if they are willing to do that.
