Hey everyone.

I have a 51swx20b and a SA 3100HD box from twc. Here is my problem.

Video 1 and 2 only provide 2 16x9 stretch modes because of the hd and dvd sources connected to these inputs. Now, i want twc analog channels to be put on video 3 so i can get the 6 different stretch modes. So, I bought an s-video cable and connected the s-video from twc box to tv on vid 3. But, how do i get sound?

There is a picture but no sound.

Please help

thanks

If the SA's weren't such pieces of junk, perhaps one would be able to use ONE digital audio connection (ala satellite boxes) for all of the different required video connections instead of having to split RCA's. I don't think this is asking too much. Or maybe pass analog, digital, AND HD video over one connection (components or DVI or firewire or whatever). I don't know the exact solution, but if I'm just expecting too much please let me know what you think. I'll assume silence means that most others think they're junk, too, and just not bothering to mention it.

I'm a little confused by Rich's response and since I don't have a 3100 maybe I'm wrong about this. If you are using a digital audio output then it would be to plug it into surround sound receiver so then it wouldn't matter which input was playing on the tv you should always get sound from the receiver. Now when you use analog audio outputs and connect them to a tv you have a problem because there is only one set I assume and you want to use two different tv inputs, component vid1 and s-video vid3. So what you do is get two rca splitters, 1 male to 2 female. Plug these into the audio output of the 3100. Get two sets of analog audio cables and plug them into the audio for vid1 and vid3 on the tv. Then plug both the cables connected to the left outlets on the tv to the splitter in the left outlet on the 3100. Then do the same for the right outlets.

yeah, I got a little carried away by using this thread to post my irritation with the SA products while not really answering the poster's question. For that I apologize. I re-read my post and it is rather confusing - sorry.

I don't even have the SA either (still on the fence sat vs. cable, mostly because of the SA3100...OK, that and cost per month). I did set one up for a family member (required most times after a cable company install  ) and I did have to use a splitter like you said and depicted in diagram. About the digital coax - my understanding is that it will only pass sound info for digital channels, but upon further thought, I may be confused about this. If that's true, then it sucks. If not, sorry for the misinformation.

mholtz2j, I hope sillygoose's post answered your questions.
