I'm pretty sure that it doesn't output 480p. Has the 250u got component video outputs?
I don't think that you really need to know that to choose the right projector...? I would choose the projector that accepts 480p, it'll most likely (99.9%) accept 525i too. Since Hitachi dv-p250u is an old player (Hitachis "old warhorse") you'll probably want to upgrade to a player that can output 480p in the near future..
