I have the Hitachi LCD TV model L42X02A, approx 2 years old. It generally works well, but occasionally, when power-on by remote control, the backlight fails to turn on. The audio can be heard, but there is no light.
In order to work around the problem, I must remove the power cord, wait some time (say at least 10 sec), then insert power cord again. Then, the backlight will power on normally.
This happens intermittently e.g. 1 in every 20 times. It is annoying when it happens but I can workaround the problem as described above.
What is the most likely module or component at fault here? My guess is a dodgy capacitor in the PSU, but I am hopeful someone here can say with better certainty than I can! Thanks.
