Does having a native 720p res on the 50VX500 1280 x 720 really make a difference compared to 50V500 which has a higher res?

For dvd, xbox, hd viewing? Is it worth more $?

I narrowed it down between these Hitachi's & the sony 50 gwIII.

I have yet to see any of my choices ... hopefully by the end of this month they will be in stock near me. FYI - I really liked the sony gwII -- softer image - better colors when I saw it in a store a while back.

Anyone know any stores near the san fernando valley -- local or otherwise that have these tv's to view?

The resolution of both sets (50V500 vs. 50VX500) appear to be identical, now that the specs have been updated on the Hitachi website... 1280x720. Check out some of the other pre-existing threads that discuss the differences.

I thought that another difference is that the VX model has better blacks and contrast. Since the V model cannot use the Black enhancement feature in dark scenes due to flickering ( see http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...44#post2793044 , Hounsfield

post) this might be a big improvement.

Can anyone confirm that the VX will have better blacks?
