Hitachi VF820 - Newbie Questions

1262 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  BigBlueBong
Hello all. I recently got a Hitachi VF820 and am now trying to get some stuff working. I am new to a lot of this so I'm feeling pretty dumb and overwhelmed. Here are a couple of my issues and would appreciate any comments any of you might have:

1) PIP... The manual claims I can do PIP using any of the inputs (watch DVD and cable channel) or something like that. But I'm having NO luck getting this done. Heck, I can't even get 2 tv channels to work for PIP??? I have my Digital Cable Box hooked into the Cable input on the TV. And I'm using 3 of my Inputs for DVD, VCR, PS2... Any thoughts on why I can't seem to get PIP to work? Also, what is the AIR input on the TV? Can I hook cable into that as well or is that just for an antenna to get the local channels?

2) Settings don't get saved... This is about to drive me up a wall. I'll go into menu and configure a bunch of stuff. Set the time, name the inputs, etc... But EVERY single time I turn the TV off, these all get reset. Nothing gets saved. I've looked everywhere for a save settings but haven't found anything. Anyone have a hitachi system? Any help out there?

Thanks again for everyones help. I can't wait to learn more about HDTV's as I go! Thanks.

Any thoughts? I struggled again with the PIP last night.
Just got this TV yesterday, so not tons of time to mess w/ all the settings yet.

Will try PIP tonight and see if I can work anything out!
