HK 254 dropping sound with HTPC

I have a 254 with the 06/2008 firmware that i picked up refurbished and I've been having a really annoying issue with it. The sound drops out when watching DVD's and other things on my HTPC over HDMI. Every few minutes the audio will drop out and go out for about 5 seconds and then come back. When it comes back the display on the front of the unit will change and show the audio channel info (like 3/2/.1 will pop up) This makes me think that its somehow loosing the signal and then finding it again, but the audio stream is continuous so it shouldn't be timing out for lack of audio. The unit doesnt seem to have problems with analog inputs from other sources


Any help would be awesome, I cant afford to switch units right now.
