An Audio 101 question. I picked up an HK AVR130 at a great price. This receiver is rated at 45 watts per channel in multi-channel mode. HK also features its high-current capability, and this model is +- 25 amps HCC.

I'm going to pick up a set of JM Labs speakers, the Chorus S line. Specs on these say "65 watts maximal power handling". My concern is: will the AVR130 power these speakers sufficiently? If not, I'll have to rethink the receiver.

Thanks for any information, advice, etc.

You should not have any problem. Your H/K will be be putting out more power than most receivers claiming 100W/channel.

Absolutely agree.

In my office, my h/k 130 is connected to a pair of JBL S38s (89 db sensitivity, I think), and there is plenty of power for the speakers.

I'm surprised that people still question H/K's power capability
It really is tough for consumers with all of the marketing nonsense that goes on. I applaud H/K for holding the line being on of the very few (NAD as well) to publish reasonable real world specs.
