HK AVR235 vs AVR240

656 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Andrew535
I'm trying to decide between a Harmon Kardon AV235 refurb or spending an extra $100 and getting an AVR 240. An AVR 635 is out of my budget

What changed between the 235 and the 240? Is there a reason to get the 240?

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Primary difference in the 240 vs 235 is the iPod connection..

Hardly seems worth an extra $160 (the HK dock is $60), just so I can have the HK remote control my iPod.

If the iPod control and charging with the AVR is not that crucial go for the 235..

Also since the 235 was discontinued several months back, it will be significantly less..

Kinda like buying a new car..

I just bought a new 2005 car when the 2007 versions are out, basic car, options, style and drive trains.. I got a $11,000 discount plus longer warranty(70k miles vs 36K) so older models if still new can work fine and one can save big $....

As long as the basics are met...

I do give them points for responding to my question in less than 2 hours.

Too bad it isn't an answer.

I've down loaded the Owner's manuals.

Beside the iPod connection, this is the only difference I've noticed:

The 235 has EzSet with the microphone in the remote. The 240 has EzSet+ and a stand alone microphone that plugs into the headphone jack.

As long as there aren't any suprises, like serious bugs, I'm leaning towards a refurbished 235.

i would recommend going with the 235, i actually went even further back and bought a 230. Couldnt find any significant differences and picked it up for 170
I have a refurb 235 on the way from HK.

Thanks for the help!
