Hi, I'm looking to buy a receiver for amplification and to switch in between my laptop and ps3 connections to my monitor. This is what I'm looking at:

I'm wondering if I'd be able to go component video in (from he ps3 -- I need components to get rid of HDCP) to HDMI out and if I'd be able to switch between the component in and a HDMI in. This would be easiest for me (cable price-wise) as I'm running an HD scaler to scale my ps3 output to my apple display.


Does anybody have better recommendations for receivers that can do what I need?

I dont think the HK can go component to HDMI. You might want to try the audo receiver forum for this ques.

I don't recommend the low end Harman's. I used to have one. They make some of the best receivers, but you have to pay for them. You really don't get your bang for the buck out of the low end like you do from the Onkyo and Denon's.

So this new Onkyo 605 would be perfect for what I need?


I think it has HDMI switching and transcoding.
