HK340 Owners- I Need Some Unique Dimensions Measured

326 Views 9 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  QZ1
I am looking to get the HK340; the issue is the depth/ventilation.

I have been searching for a long time for something suitable and good, but I think this AVR will work.

The HK Manual and Spec Sheet have conflicting info.

Either one of them is wrong or one measurement is without knob/terminals.

Regardless, I need some partial measurements not given by HK.

If you own an HK340, could you do me a favor take some precise AVR measurements?

*I need the Depths (in US or Metric) of the:

Front Knob

Receiver Case

Back Terminals

*And the Height of the:

Receiver including Feet

There's got to be some HK340 owners out there. :(
Why not visit a local HK dealer, like Circuit City and bring your tape measure..
Yeah, I thought of that, but CC is showing this as a 'web special'. I think it means it isn't available in store; but maybe it just means the discount is web-only? I tend to doubt it. Is is a bit of a drive, but I'll give them a call.

If not, I am relying on the kindness of others to take a moment of time to measure this AVR. :)

Here you go...

Quote:
Front Knob
3/8"

Quote:
Receiver Case
14"

Quote:
Back Terminals
1"

Quote:
Total Depth
3/8" + 14" + 1"= 15 3/8"

Suggest you also consider the hangover of certain connectors of both front & rear, including headphone, A/V inputs/outputs, digital inputs/outputs and AC power as well..

*And the Height of the:

Receiver including Feet
6 1/2"

6 1/2"
Awesome, thanks!

Funny that HK, in the manual, claims the total (inlcuding front and back knob/terminals) is 15".

Maybe you rounded a little on each?

Or did you indeed take a 'total depth' measurement?

HK says height is 6.62", pretty close to what you said.

The reason I am trying to be so accurate is for ventilation purposes.

The HK 240 and 340 have the exact same dimensions. I know CC has the 240 on shelves. I would go with the other suggestion of taking a tape measure to CC to verify everything meets your needs.

After looking at the CC website, the 340 special is $619? If this is correct you can get the much more powerful and better AVR 635 shipped for less than that at JandR.com.

The 635 may be too deep for you at 17 1/8" though.

They were suggesting CC for measuring the AVR, not buying it there. ;)
I was able to find an HK340 on display to measure the depth, and I came up with 3/8 + 13 3/4 + 7/8 = 15" total.

This is in line with the manual saying 15" total depth, and the spec sheet says 13.8", which is the case depth, as I guessed. The height was correct.
