I heard that the Samsung HL-S6187W can accept and display 1080P from the Xbox 360. All I use the 360 for is gaming, no HD-DVD movies or movies of any kind. (I use my PS3 for Blu-Ray/Regular Movies). Would it be beneficial to spend the $40 or so to get a VGA cable? Would it be an upgrade compared to the Component? Im biased toward using component, and Ive read that the difference in VGA is to be seen ONLY in DVD playback. If so, would component and VGA be the same for 360 1080P Gaming? Thanks!

I have the same TV. I switched to VGA when the update came that enabled upconversion for DVDs. I've noticed no difference in games between VGA and Component.


So if you don't plan on viewing any DVDs on the 360 and don't want your DVDs upconverted (because the PS3 sure isn't upconverting them) then I wouldn't worry about the VGA cable.

Its worth its wait in gold if your using it for upconverting dvd's. Night and day diffrence.


I do see improvment with game using VGA also not much but a little.
