Saturday I bought what I thought was an HLM617W from Tweeter in Maple SHade, NJ. When I looked at the paperwork, it had the model # and it said HLN617W instead. Imagine my suprise!

I called the warehouse from where its being delivered and they checked the box. Lo and behold, it is an HLN. I guess they're starting to get their act together.

List price (5100) + 39 shipping. Before you tell me how much cheaper it sells for on the net, also keep in mind that I got 17 MONTH same-as-cash. That's an amazing deal in my book.

All right. I'll spill. :) Got my HLN617W for under ~4200 from a local dealer. Not the best price. But I couldn't wait any further. The Toshiba is too big. And the Panny DLP has flickers.

He paid "5100 plus 39" for shipping. He didn't make the currency explicit. Maybe he paid in yen. Now that's a good deal.

BOY - YOU GUYS READ TOO MUCH INTO THINGS. YOU SHOULD ALL BE LAWYERS.

I PAID $5,100 (DOLLARS, NOT YEN). I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE LIST PRICE SINCE TWEETER SEEMS TO ONLY SELL THINGS FOR LIST PRICE. IF IT WASN'T THE LIST PRICE, THEN I'M SORRY FOR SAYING THAT IT WAS.

ANYWAY, IT WAS DELIVERED TODAY AND THE DVD'S I TRIED OUT LOOK FANTASTIC - THE TWEETER GUY DIDN'T DO ANY CALIBRATING (HE CLAIMS HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW) BUT THE PICTURE ON STAR WARS - ATTACK OF THE CLONES LOOKED PERFECT TO MY UNTRAINED EYE.

ON THE OTHER HAND, THE COMCAST CABLE INPUT, PARTICULARLY ON THE LOWER CHANNELS, DOESN'T LOOK SO HOT. I ASSUME THAT THE SIGNAL IS SIMPLY BAD AND IF I WANT BETTER, I HAVE TO GET DIRECT-TV OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

IF ANYONE WANTS TO E-MAIL EXACTLY HOW TO CALIBRATE IT FURTHER, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT [email protected] .

Newbie ? here...

What is a Hln617w?

BTW, I always negotiate with Tweeters and usually get something off MSRP.

I own a 17 month old MITS WS55819 RPTV. So far I am very happy. I am considering moving it upstairs and buying something new for the HT. I really like the PQ of the MITS Diamond series (properly adjusted) and the Pioneer Elite any other suggestions to view?

Sorry to be off topic a bit my first go round...

Mike

You are in a thread where others are discussing Samsungs new 61" DLP television. It weighs 110 lbs and will give you brain cancer.

I hope to own the 56" DLP from Samsung as soon as it reaches stores. The 56"set causes benign tumors.

Umm... I didn't say under $4200. I said ~$4200, which may be slightly more than $4200 but definitely less than $4250 (plus tax). ;) Also, it's an "N". :D

Someone got a 61" for $3900 including tax. I don't know whether it's an N or an M. It doesn't matter since they're all the same.

$4200 not the best price! Are you kidding? The lowest I saw the HLM was around $4500, so $4200 for an HLN is a deal.

And we are talking about NEW and not remanufactured correct?

Suzook, ah, I reread my earlier post and saw what you referred to. Instead of "under ~", it should read "about ~". My bad. Sorry! :)

resist, yes, it's a new set.

I just bought a HLN61W from Tweeter Wednesday. I pick it today (friday) - I was stoked it was in stock. Hope I like it!!! I must admit I am nervous - I've spent major bucks on audio before, but never video.

Cheers,

Chris
