Alright I've only had my hlp-5063w samsung dlp for about a month from the tva powerbuy and now all of the sudden I get little instances that i can best describe as a quick freezing of the tv in which the picture stops and then really starts up again. The screen doesnt go black but it gets like pixelated. This is my first experience with a hi-definition tv and i was wondering if anyone has any possible ideas on what is wrong and also are all dlps like this because i think its ridiculous to already have problems with a tv after owning it for only a month...

Anyways all help is appreciated and thanks in advance

First of all you need to say what you are doing when it happens. What is connected and how is it connected. Stuff like that.

Ok im just watching my basic cable television. Its all running on standard definition, no tuner/reciever. I did play my x-box on it earlier and did not have any problems but as i was watching tv tonight it happend a lot of times and it happend on every channel i watched.

I just thought i would add that the audio stops during these instances & that it appears that it does not do this while watching my dvd player.

So as far as I've noticed it only does this when watching my sd cable.

It sounds like there is a problem with the signal coming from your cable company.

Either they are having a transmission problem or you have a problem with the cables coming into your house. If they are not having a problem at their location have them come out and check your signal strength.

Do you have a cable set top box?

Is your cable wire split several times?

nope i do not have a top box and the cable in this room is not split but the cable in the living room is. I dont know if having the cable in the living room split would make a difference though...

again please forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject and thanks for the help thus far

If you have a TV in another room then there has to be a spit somewhere. Maybe where the coax cable is attached to the house.

Try moving the connection at the TV ANT1 IN to ANT2 IN.

If you have a wall connector too try a different cable.

The idea is to make sure it's not a problem outside the TV. I've been reading messages from Samsung DLP users for over two years and I don't recall reading about a defective ANT1 or ANT2 input. It could be that you have a defective TV connector but it's more likely that it's the cable.

You might even have a critter chewing on your DLP coax cable under the house or where ever the cable runs.

Without knowing what your setup looks like it's hard for me do more than speculate about what is most likely to be causing the problem.

In my long years of computer experience it's always the cables that are suspected first. That's why I suggested getting the cable company to test the signal strength at your DLP set.

I too have a Sammy HLP5063. I've been having a similar problem as well. I have just assumed it was my signal provider. It happened as recently as last night during Monday Night Football. I was watching in HD using a DVI cable from my Scientific Atlanta HD box provided by Rogers Communications.

We had a major signal mess just about the time Cincinnati had a longish run for a touchdown. I went to SD for a short while and there was no problem there.

I have had a similar problem as well. I called my cable provider, Cox, and they sent out a technician. We had previously had an signal amplifier installed by cox because our connection was split so many times. On this visit, he said our signal was actually "too strong" and gave us an adapter that reduces the signal strength. It hooks on to the end of the coaxial cable and is installed only on splits where the signal is to strong and causing this pixelation/freezing. Problem solved.

So, call your cable company.
