Many home amps have pre-outs you could hook up an external amp to. It's just a line level signal. Is this what you mean?
im not sure really y i was asking someone i just wanted to power to of my subs with a amp and hook the amp to my recivier but im not sure if it would work or how u do it is what im trying to say.
You can hook a separate amp to the line-level preouts on a receiver (if it has them) although you may have to use an adapter to get the RCA outs on the receiver to mate with inputs on some pro amps or maybe a guitar amp (of which I am not familiar). But to power the sub properly you need a low frequency cut-off to cut out the higher frequencies. Most AV receivers have a designated pre-out for a sub and you can use that with the receiver's crossover. Otherwise you will have to buy a separate crossover, in which case it may be cheaper to just buy a powered sub with a built-in crossover.
If your amp has a 1/4" input plug or screw inputs you can just get an rca to 1/4" adapter or cable from radio shack (or rca to pigtail for screw inputs). If it is a guitar amp it probablly does.

If it's a pro amp, 50/50 chance it only has xlr input. In this case you'll need a direct box and that adapter and a short xlr cable to hook it up.
i was reading up on recivers and stuff and it said like if u have a subwooffer plug in that u can hook and amp to were that plugs into instead so is this the wire u r talking about cuz i have a 12inch mtx hooked right now to mine could i hook up an amp there with that same wire instead?

Even if you can make it work, you're not likely to be happy with the results. Your guitar amp probably doesn't make any more power than your receiver.

Perhaps you can find a grown-up to decipher this for us?

That is a little harsh but I agree that sentences would be nice. I find that I skip over posts that are hard to read, especially OPs. I would think people would want to communicate effectively if they really wanted help.
