K, my contractor has given me 2 weeks to ge the speaker wire ran by myself so i gots to become a quick study. :)

I am setting up 2 rooms, the living room as a tv, and a downstairs den as a projector room. I dont have all this stuff yet, but i want to run as much now before the drywall goes up to save headaches later.

For the living room the tv is corner mounted and i know that does heck with the speaker placement but oh well. If anyone has any good ideas for speaker placement for a corner mounted tv let me know.

What i want to do is run the speaker wire now before the drywall goes up. I know i need toget wire, thinking 14 guage? That good enough? But then i think i need toget some sort of crimping end for the wires would anyone have any suggestions on those? And i need some sort of wall jack system so i dont have random wires hanging out of the wall.

Also, in the basement i want to put a ceiling mounted projector but this is all just preemptive so i dont have a projector or screen or anything. I do know which wall i would put it on and thus i want to get the electrician to drop me a power outlet in the ceiling. Should i just have them put the power outlet in the direct middle of this basement den room and then work from there? Or should the screen be closer?

This is a huge den, i dont have the dimensions right now, but i will post them tomorrow when i can get to the blue prints at work. I am thinking its aroun 30ft by 20ft or so. i will get better dimensions tommorow.

So if yall have any ideas on this or any suggestions let me know.

I purchased an onkyo 770 system and i know that will go in the living room, i think i will try for a fancier setup in the den though since its alot bigger, but who knows.

So lastly 14 guage wire? Just the speaker wire from lowes hardware good or do i need to get monster or another name brand? not sure what brand lowes hardware carries? or is just the guage the most important thing?

I have no clue what kind of wiring a projector has, but is the wire from the place where the receiver/dvd player etc will be placed to where the projector will be on the ceiling, be something i could run now?

Honestly this aint going to be a 10k projector or anything, more like a 1k projector :) so what kind of cabling would it use you think?

Thanks for any help

Well, i am just sorta thinking out load here on the board hoping someone will help me figure this out. :)

According to another thread I should get "in-wall rated" 14 guage wire from Lowes. I will get out to lowes and see if i can find that.

I am thinking of doing 4 (2-port) speaker ports on the walls, basically in a square, have the right front & sub as one port, left front & center as another, and left rear and back center left as another, then finally a right rear and back center right as another. should be the ports for a 7.1 system right?

I am thinking this sort of jack for the walls? Its a "Gold plated 1 pair banana jack speaker insert plate, includes mounting hardware"

Then 2 of these for near the receivers, which are "Four pair banana Jack insert plate, includes mounting hardware, Solder tang connection in back."

I know i got to tie in the jacks on the walls with the crimped ends of the wires from the speakers would this be what i want then?

Also, i know i will have to mount a box in the wall for these thus would these look ok or do i need another type of face plate?

Very new at this. :)

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
