I have an older 61" Philips Magnavox Projection tv(about 10 years old). I also have some spare Sony 4ohm surround speakers from a HTIB. On the back of the tv are built in rear surround sound speaker wire inputs. The manual recommends using 8ohm speakers, would using my front and rear surround speakers connected to these outputs cause any damage. I want to connect the right front and right rear in the 1 right connection, and the front left and rear left in the 1 left connection. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

The surround speakers are 4ohm, what are the front speakers? If they are 4ohm also then you can put them in series to make 8ohms. Don't put them in parallel because that would be 2ohms (not good). Check this site for calculations and warnings about running low ohms.
