Horizontal green line slowly scrolls up the screen

A faint green horizontal line slowly scrolls up the screen.

When it gets about half way up the screen another one starts and they both go slowly on up the screen

Takes about 20 seconds or so to make it up the screen and so on.

It's still under warranty, so NEC should take care of it.

It does it with whatever source I use so, I'm figuring it's the PJ

Anybody know what's going on?

Seems like it may be a ground loop between the source and the projector. You can try running an extension cord so you can plug the projector into the same outlet as your source equipment to check this. If you still get the lines, I am not sure what to tell you.

I'll check it.

I know how to run down a ground with audio. Never occured to me that it could affect the video.

Mine did the same.

Try completely disconnecting the cable/satellite coax from your gear. If the problem is eliminated then you've got the source nailed. I put a Triplite HT surge with coax in the loop and resolved it that way.
well, Gross's post about an AC ground loop made me think about the fact that I just started seeing this about the time I put in the battery back-up.

Voila -

Unplugged the battery backup, and the lines are gone -

Might try plugging the backup in before or after the powervar and see what that does.

Have to wait and hour to restart, so it takes a while.

Thanks for your input.

After going up and down a couple of blind alleys _big grin_

I did the old audio trick of tying a known good ground into all of the chassis.

Didn't have to do the projector.

Basically, tied together the cable box, DVD player, and reciever all with the reference ground on the isolation transformer that they're all powered from. The PJ runs thru it also, but apparantly is OK without it.

One thing that was somewhat confusing - as is common with ground problems, would come and go erratically, causing me to think I had it resolved _grin_

Thanks for all of the input.
