Use a coax cable to match what the eye currently uses. RG6 or RG59 with F connectors and adapters to RCA will work fine. Keep in mind that extending the ye cable reduces the distance the remote can be from it.
Will the eye work behind a crack in the cabinet door? I have custom cabinets with no toe kick. I could drill a grummet hole in the top but would need about 4 feet from eye to IR device. Would that work?
The eye is highly sensitive and does not need a clear line of sight to work if it can see reflected IR. It will likely work through a small opening. I usually recommend that the user not drill any holes until they've tried less intrusive options.
