South Houston is finally in the 21st century. TimeWarner installed a HDTV decoder today, and it's working great. I get all 4 locals, 2 HBO, and 2 SHO. All work well. Most of the SHO stuff is upconverted though...and I didn't have to buy any boxes or anything.

OK, now here's the question...the HDTV box is an add on to the normal digital box. There is a 9pin d connector on the DTV box and that goes via a cord to a 1/8 (2 conductor) plug on the HDTV box. There's also video and audio cables from the DTV box to the HDTV box. The HDTV box then has component plugs to go to the TV. It is switchable RGBHV or component, and 1080i/702p/480p.

Could the cable be carrying an MPEG2 stream? If so, does it conform to a standard? Maybe with the right card and PC software, I could intercept the bitstream and cache it on my PC. Does anyone know anything about this?

How bout any of the 169time guys? This might be something you could make.
