A chip in a box with a bunch of inputs....oh well, I guess it would cost them almost as much as an entire receiver.

But since Velodyne is going to sell its subwoofer EQ as a standalone, it would seem that someone could come up with something like Audyssey as a stand alone.

What do you think?

Thanks Kal

Yeah, like TacT, except at about 10% of the price.

I asked the same question awhile back.

If I understand correctly, a problem is that copy protection concerns dictate against having digital outputs available from the pre/pro, so then the EQ box needs A/D and D/A conversions for all channels.

So yes, why not get a receiver for probhably less than this box would cost, cleaner signal path, with surround processing and power amps all thrown in.

That's what I did (HK 635).

Check out the JBL Bass EQ processor, it was demonstrated @ WCES, using 4 subwoofers..

Very impressive really cleared out the typical bass peak/resonances.. The JBL engineer mentioned they use the TI 610 DSPs similar to the HK635..
