How are Bell ExpressVu people recording their HDTV content?

Since the HDTV satellite receiver doesn't have PVR, how are you recording your HDTV content? Is it possible to record it on a device and then transfer it to the computer? Thanks.

Most aren't. There's an expensive 169 modification that can be done to the model 6000 receiver which provides firewire to a D-VHS deck, but that's rare, clunky and expen$ive.
I use my BEV 6000 to watch HDTV while my Rogers 8300HD records HDTV shows .

I also have DTV in HD as well as you can never have enough HDTV ...

Watching American commercials during my Super Bowl chillifest 2005 party had them in stitches .

So you were using your Rogers box to record HDTV content from the satellite?

I whish unfortunately it would cost $1K U.S for the mod of the 6000 to achieve the firwire output from digital stream allowing archiving and that is just cost prohibitive...

P.S

If I lived in T.O where there is an abundance of OTA HDTV channels ripe for plucking with the right tuner card in a HTPC with raid array of HDD's one could archieve until the cows come home ...

A Shaw 6208 HD PVR, can record via firewire to the PC, or direct to its HD.

Seldom use the firewire option, the HD recording is just much quicker.

Got tired of waiting for ExpressVu to offer one and switched!

Yea, but Shaw has very few HDTV channels to offer. Will Bell offer a HD PVR system in the near future?
Their have been rumors of an HD PVR from ExpressVu for years. The latest rumor is May of this year.
You can use either the 169time or Nextcom devices to record BEV. See the HDTV Recorders Synopsis.
