I have my Sammy HLN617W hooked up to a Gateway Media Center (FMC-901x) through a DVI cable and would like to have the Sammy go blank when I turn off the Gateway. Currently when I turn off the Gateway the Sammy puts up a "DVI" and "No Signal" text messages forcing me to turn off the Sammy.


I would really like to not have to use my Sammy remote and just use the Gateway and let the screen go blank when it does not recognize a signal. I know that there are no burn-in issues but I do not want to see "DVI" and "No Signal" on the screen and be able to leave the Sammy on ( or is there a way to put it in "hibernate"?.

Even with no signal coming to it, your DLP is using a lot of enery and has some wear and tear going on. You sure you can't find a way to turn it off?

Yikes! You don't mean leaving it on 24/7 do you? The bulb is fully on and using up its precious life even when the screen is blank.

Remember, leaving your Samsung on all the time will rack up the hours on the bulb.


Ofcourse, maybe you have more money than I do.

I did something like that with me refrigerator, I took the door off and installed an on/off switch for the light.
