I just tried an iPad HDMI cable and the HBOtoGO app is blocking output through HDMI. Says here that block is expected: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-57405715-233/how-to-watch-hbo-go-on-your-apple-tv-sort-of/


Some say Apple TV (which I haven't bought yet) will do it. That article I link says it won't.

ATV2 or 3 will not currently allow you to AirPlay HBOGo from an iOS device (it will, but will send audio only).


That could change as soon as today, depending on what Apple unleashes @ the WWDC in under an hour from the time I typed this.


I have held out hope that the rumored AirPlay updates to the next Mac OS (Mountain Lion), which will supposedly allow Mac users to send any & everything on their Mac screen to the ATV via AirPlay, will solve this dilema for me & other Mac users/HBO subscribers once & for all.


As a Comacst subscriber, I obviously have a decent amount of OnDemand HBO programming via the cable box. It would be nice, OTOH, to be able to have all HBOGo choices available on the main TV screen. We shall see....

Yes it does....as long as your HBO provider allows the use of HBOGo on Roku. AFAIK, DirecTv & Comcast subscribers w/ Roku boxes are **** outta luck when attempting to use HBO Go on their little black streaming boxes.

Fortunately Uverse is one of the providers that supports HBO go on Roku. 60.00 for a roku hd.
