How can I split HDMI signal so that I don't have to use Onkyo 604 all of the time

I have: 8300 Cable box, Panny 50PX60U and Onkyo S-907 Surround (604 receiver). I want to be able to watch TV without the HTIB on all of the time. I am looking at buying a powered 1-2 HDMI splitter and hooking that up to the output from the cable box and feeding one HDMI into the Receiver and 1 directly to the TV. I was wondering if there is a cheaper way to do this.

Thanks, Brian

Hmm not familure with your display. But couldn't you just hook up an alternate connection method to it? Like component and L/R analog?
