Hey guys, this might be a weird question, but I recently picked up a vintage stereo preamplifier for cheap for a friend but I'd like to somehow test that it works before I send it off to him. I don't have a power amp, just a mainstream AVR, so I'm not sure how to test this out or whether I can. Any ideas as to how to hook it up or whatever would be greatly appreciated. I was just going to hook it up via the CD inputs on the back of the AVR or something but since I'm completely clueless as to how these components work together I thought I'd check first so I don't mess anything up.

Plug a source into the preamp (cd,etc) and then plug the preamp out to an input on the AVR. Should tell you what you want to know
