Problem:

I am using the October version of ffdshow for watching movies through Zoom Player. I have noticed that when watching media files through WMP10, mainly the WMV-HD trailers off that website, the files have different audio settings, because it is using the ffdshow audio filter for audio.

The audio options are in WMP10 -> Tools -> Options -> DVD -> Advanced. At home, this brings up the ffdshow audio filter program/dialog, while at work on this computer it looks like it's using WinDVD 6 for audio, as that brings up the WinDVD audio dialog.

So at home, some files require me to use AC3, and others need 16-, 24- and 32-bit integer checked instead.

However, if I try and install the August version of ffdshow for faster resizing algorithms, it is missing the AC3 audio option from the ffdshow audio filter/codec dialog, and I can't view these files.

Question:

Is there a way to specify which audio filter/codec WMP10 uses? Either through a graph, editing a file in the WMP directory, or installing something else after ffdshow to take over that slot?

Try setting the merit of the ffdshow audio filter lower, and/or set the merit higher for the filter you'd like to use. You can do this in ZP's Registered Filter Manager under the Management tab of the Filter Control menu, OR in Media Player Classic.

Hope it works for you. :)

Cool, thanks. I'll give that a try.

I just tried the "merit" setting in ffdshow audio here at work, and after I restarted, it went back to the last one that was there! Thanks, N3W813!
