Hi,


I have Sony XBR 40" LCD with a RM-YD002 remote. I don't use it since I programmed it's code into my Cox Universal Remote that came with my DVR.


There are 3 buttons on the Sony that I need over and over that aren't on the Cox.


1. TV/VIDEO

2. WIDE

3. DISPLAY


Is there a way of finding out what the codes are for these individual buttons and then put them somewhere on my Cox remote?

What device code on the remote do you have set to for the TV? And which remote do you have? Is it one of these?

I have the Cox remote TV button programmed to 1100 and the remote is the top right one on the webpage, the Cox DVR.

Even though the manual does not mention keymove feature, I think you may be able to use it to add advanced codes:


To add "TV/Video" to INPUT key:

1. Press the device key (TV).

2. Press and hold SETUP until device key blinks twice

3. Type 994 (blink twice. If it doesn't the remote might not have this feature)

4. Press and release (NOT Hold) SETUP

5. Type 10053

6. Press INPUT key


Now test the INPUT key. If it works you can do try the following codes for others and repeat the steps above for each.


Display = 59461

Wide toggle = 57312


You can assign them to any key, but I guess the logical ones would be INFO and HD ZOOM.

There is a great site for Sony codes here:

and there is a link on the bottom of the page on how to use it for "One for All" remotes (the Cox remote is actually made by the same company that makes OfA remotes, UEI). Unfortunately, it's not THAT easy.


If you go up to the home page of that site ( http://www.hifi-remote.com ), you can read about JP1 and JP1.x remotes (by the way that Cox remote is a JP1.1 remote), applications they have developed to upgrade the remotes with new device codes, and upgrade files. Even if you don't have the cable, if you are using a device code that is already built in to the remote, you can use the applications and upgrade files to find and input additional commands using advanced codes to put into your remote using the keymove (994) function.
