I live in Dothan, AL where Directv says I have Grade B Signal from my two "Local" NBC feeds which are both ~80-100 miles away. Can't friggin put a fence on my roof to recieve their feeds here.

I have asked for a waiver -> Denied by both stations (surprise) -> Asked Directv for signal strength test (~3 months ago) and here I am without my ER in HD still?

How Do I "Move" to the right area and does the Bill need to go to my "new address" and How can I find an appropiate area "to move to"

Thanks So Much

Awesome answer. I am tired of people starting a post to get their information because they are either just to damn lazy to do the research themselves, or do a little searching on the forums where there are hundreds of the same threads. They want everone else to do the groundwork for em.

This from the guy who started a thread two days ago asking "What Shows on Fox are in HD?" when there's a sticky thread with the answer at the top of the forum since August? Gimme a break!

When you "move" they should ask you where you want the bill sent to. If they don't, just tell them your billing address will stay the same (where you now live). Also, tell them your phone number won't change either.

Search http://www.dbsforums.com for more "moving" info.

I want to say that searching for an answer in this forum can be daunting. Even relevant threads often have twenty to a hundred pages of anecdotes, opinion, quips and tangents, and if you're not devoted to reading every thread, it's hard to find to find specific information.

While it's not always easy to type the correct magic query into the seach engine, if you do it directs you to the post -- not just the thread.

And while I'm sympathetic to anyone who wants information and can't find it, if endless duplicate threads are allowed, the forum's utility plummets.

It's a delicate balance.

Try being a little more specific and you might get some help.

Submitted what to whom? What web site?

If you are referring to the DirecTV DNS Eligibility page, that does not change the service address for you on your account. You can type in any address on that page, it just gives you DNS eligibility results. I believe you have to call to change your service address.

I apologize for not being more specific.

I called D* last night, changed my service address to an address that qualifies for all major networks. I was told by the CSR that the change had been submitted (for the service address) and that "there was no answer" from the script they use to do the changes. She said there would be waivers submitted??? My question was, since this area is not serviced by any network, why would they submit a waiver request?

Any help is appreciated.

RonAuger is correct.

Once you find a DNS-Eligible address, you must call DirecTV and tell them you've moved. You can tell them to keep your mailing address (for bills & future access card mailouts) the same (where you currently live). Or, tell them nothing about the mailing address being different, then logon to your account at directv.com and change the mailing address after the call. Your mailing address & phone numbers are the only part you can change online. Your "physical" address cannot be changed online. You cannot order DNS channels online either. Those must also be requested by phone.

Thanks for the help...I actually did my part correctly. However, the CSR never changed the service address. I just called back and am up and running. DNS-HD here I come :D

OK,

For the flamers I'm sorry, but a newbie

Thanks for the help for those who did.

I have done my homework on AVS and DBS forum and have found the nuts and bolts for the "moving" procedure and have even found a DNS eligible moving address in a town about 100 miles in the same state.

My question before I try this is wether moving will somehow change the transponders associated with my STB since I will still be in same real location. i.e. will I loose my signal from the satellites if i go thru with the "move"

I have studied the "spot beam map" and am still within the same two "circles or ovals". Does that mean I am ok?
