How do I reset my tv to factory settings

1032 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  rcf1987
I have a Magnavox 27MT5405_17 and I need to know how to reset it to factory defaults. I have the hidden service menu code (062596 + Menu) but I don't know what I need to change to change it back to factory defaults. Can someone with a Magnavox tv chime in and help

C'mon I really need help
Changing your set back to factory defaults is a risky move. The factory defaults are setup as starting values for the set. The factory performed a post-manufacture alignment on your set and adjusted from defaults. Therefore, resetting to the factory defaults will result in an unaligned pre-delivery state.

Maybe if you explained why you desire to do this, you may get responses.
Greetings

That's pretty much it ... no set coming off the assembly line shares the same values as the next set. They are all different and hand adjusted before they are ready to go.

Sets are build with component tolerances of 10 to 15% ... add those all up and no two sets will behave the same even with the same numbers.

Default settings do not exist in any usable fashion and can often delivery a totally unusable image.

Your only choice is to get ahold of a service manual, via a .pdf file and set each individual value to the factory normal settings listed in the manual. NOTE: These will NOT give you the optimum values for you set only the factory prescribed default values. It's quite possible you will experience a degradation in picture quality if you attempt this and there are quite a few settings you'll have to go through.
I wanna know how to do this cause the geometry on my tv is all screwed up thnxs to my little brother

Geometry is one of the primary post-manufacture alignments made at the factory. The factory tech starts with the defaults and adjusts to within factory acceptable tolerances. The geometry defaults for your tv will very likely produce an unacceptable state. In addition, resetting to defaults will undo all other non-geometry alignments made at the factory.

Did your little brother screw up the geometry from within the service menu? If so, he SHOULD have written down all of the initial values before he started. This warning can be found all over these forums but at least once a month there's a post where someone dives in deep without a rope.

I would recommend starting with what you have. Get a calibration disc like DVE or Avia and use a crosshatch pattern to tweak it back into alignment. Hopefully someone will post the service menu items for you to use. Your other option is to have it serviced.
