How does one know if a particular DVD is an anamorphic transfer?

So if it is the disc cover will always have either the words "anamorphic" or "enhanced"?

Bob,

On the back of the DVD it will say any of the following:

1. Enhanced for Widescreen TV's

2. Enhanced for 16x9 TV's

3. Anamorphic High Definition Transfer

You can also go to DVD websites and look at the specs for the DVD in particular www.dvdfile.com or www.dvdreview.com are two of my favorites.

"3. Anamorphic High Definition Transfer"

Wow, never seen that one before.

What current discs might that be on?

Though I've found at least one disc (So I Married an Axe Murderer) that doesn't mention it at all. It says that it's widescreen, but doesn't say "enhanced" or "anamorphic" anywhere.

If it doesn't say, I try it with ATI player widescreen, and see if windowboxes it. If so, it's not anamorphic, and I switch to my letterboxed registry settings.
