Well, I just got mine in today. However, before even turning it on, I noticed some "stuff" on the lens, like a foggy discoloration, kinda like an oil spill reflects weird patches of light.

Since I definately don't want to scratch or discolor the optics, what can i use? Is rubbing alcohol and a tissue ok?

Being a photo buff I recommend using camera lens cleaner and lens cleaning wipes. Available at any camera shop. If this thing has a coated lens (probably does) don't use Windex on it.

I've been using a "lens pen".

One side has a soft brush for wiping off dust. The other has what looks like a one of those plastic suction attachment thingies and you use it to wipe nasties of the lens.

Purchased it from the camera department at Fry's.
