Hello,

I am getting really annoyed by explorer on WinXP. Everytime I single click

on a mpeg file, it wants to show a preview of it in the small "details" section

that appears on the left side of the explorer window. Unfortunately, the

mpeg file is about 4 gigs, and explorer (and hence the entire PC) goes into

lala land for a bit when trying to build a preview for the file. Is there a way

to prevent explorer from doing this?

Thanks.

Its something like disable view as web page, or classic view, under Tools-Folder Options, sorry that's from memory, I am stuck in Win2K here at work right now

One options is to just change the view to details or some such thing on that folder. It remembers (generally) the view setting for folders, so it should come back to details mode when you open that folder next time, right?

Arggghh!!! I cannot stand microsoft!!!

Even the "Windows Explorer" window, which does not have a multimedia

preview section by default, hangs the PC when I select a large mpeg2 file.

What the heck is WinXP/WinExplorer doing? Why does it need to scan the

file? This is ridiculous, I gotta find out what it is doing and hope that this

"feature" can be disabled.

Anyone gotta a clue on what is going on or how to fix it?
