I have a HTPC for movies and games that work well with a gamepad I use a Xbox wireless controller for. But my question is how do you guys comfortable handle mouse and keyboard controls for HTPC games in a setup like this?

Ive tried a foldup dinner table from the couch which was ok, but if I want to get a bit closer on the "gaming chair" just wondering how you guys handle that?

I have the keyboard and mouse on my coffee table. I don't sit back when I game, I simply sit up straight, on the edge of the couch, and everything feels fine.

I have the keyboard on my lap and the mouse on the arm rest of my couch. It feels natural and is very comfortable. Now that doesn't mean I'm any good at playing this way just that it's a nice easy way to play.

I have a leather foot-stool that's the same height as my couch. I have a rougly 3 foot x 1 foot long piece of glass that I use as a "bridge" between the two and put a mousepad on top of it. Works great and I can game with my feet up.

When Im not using it I just put it on top of the footstool as a place to put my drinks, etc.

Wireless keyboard on my lap. Wireless mouse on a thin book (about 10"x12"x3/4") on a pillow, regular bed pillow, firm. Been using this setup for almost seven years now, very comfortable. On a sofa, not a chair.

Three cushions on the sofa: fiance|me|pillow with mouse. That way she doesn't jiggle my mouse hand and throw off my aim

Also I don't really use it, but you can setup a software app called Pinnacle Game Profiler or something like that, which allows you to use a 360 controller as a mouse for surfing the web and stuff.

I use the 360 controller with xpadder if the game doesn't support it natively.

Do you know where to buy the phantom lap board or anything similar. I love the disposition of the keyboard and mouse on that thing. I can't find it anywhere.

For FPS games I just sit in front of my PC's monitor, I don't even bother with my large screen HDTV. For action games with the gamepad I use my couch/HDTV.

Lapdesk for my keyboard, mouse on sofa's armrest. I can slouch and play at the same time...I'm multitasking!

I actually use a lazy susan that was for a 27" tv on my lap with they keyboard lol. I just took the swivel off and bam, instant keyboard support. I don't need a cushion on the bottom either, it works fine the way it is.

In front of my HDTV I have the keyboard on my lap, and a strip of plywood to my side directly on the couch to support my mouse pad and mouse. I put a couple of DVD cases under the edge of the plywood to keep it level. Works perfectly, very cheap, and is super easy to put away when I'm done.

Found a wireless keyboard with a joystick built in for mouse. Works great without need for table, armrest, or plywoods. best investment I've made for the HTPC.

I almost started a new thread asking this exact same question. Good to see folks can make it work on the cheap with a few pillows and books.

From another thread I posted this

I used one of these http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/80115790 to mount everything.

And I have a Belkin N52TE http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=390404 and a Mini Keyboard http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...8112&CatId=533 attached with velcro. I have my G5 mouse http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...2CVF-_-Product .

I have a small 4 port USB hub hiding in the side pocket and all the wires and hidden nicely under the table. The cushion is removable via buttons. Its a really good solution as I have mounted a USB jack on my wall behind my (hard par to run the 25 FT USB wire under the base board and fish up to a custom wallplate) couch and just plug it in when Im gaming and then it slides under my couch when not in use. The best part is the Wife can't see any cords when im using it.
