Seems most people at cocoontech recommend a separate motion detector, from the light - not combined. Though, I've seen a few people use the combined unit. As Stamp said, it would allow you to use it as a trigger for multiple events, e.g. notification and lights. I don't know how you'd use it to trigger a camera - lights, camera, action...camera motion detection, from what I've read about newer camera systems, is that the motion trigger is incorporated into the camera software.

Nexus, are you using HAI?

I'm curious about people's actual implementations. Especially in locations where rain can be an issue.

What kind of lights, switches, sensors, etc were used.

For example, I am working on my front porch. I have a standard dorky overhead light. I am replacing the switch with a HAI UPB switch and I am mounting a HAI wireless motion detector outside. I'll write some code to turn the light on if motion is detected and its nighttime. The PIR will be protected from the elements (mostly) in this location but on the side and backdoor areas the lights and sensors will get rain.

I'm unsure what would be the best impementation for hardware in these areas to integrate a PIR and a light with HAI.
