I would like to set up my display as best as I can, and I'd like to use the test patterns that are occasionally sent out on HDNet. I am familiar with Avia and how to use it, but that won't use my satellite receiver as a source. My question is...

Does anyone know how to best utilize those HDNet test patterns? For example, the first one shows color bars in the background - how do you use that pattern to adjust hue and tint? It also has greyscale boxes near the bottom with numbers on them. Do you use those boxes to adjust brightness and contrast?

I'd appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Ron

PS - by the way, has anyone else noticed that HDNet has different brightness and contrast levels than HBO? When I adjust those levels for HDNet, HBO seems on the dark side.
