Is the 30K's HD recording set at 28MBPS or does it vary with the incoming bandwitch recorded. Seeing that I can only get 2.5 hours on a 300 minute D-VHS tape, I'd imagine that it's set. Too bad because we'd be able to get more on the tape if it where variable.

Anything that is above 12Mbps is recorded in HS mode. If data drops below 12Mbps you will get 300 minutes as it will record in STD mode.
