I am considering one of the 65" 60 series Pannys (S, ST, VT).. just curious what you feel the optimum distance is vs. what you are actually viewing from

Right now I am 13 feet from a TV that will be mounted over a fireplace.

I am closer to 14 feet from the TV..I just remeasured today. So would I be better off getting a 70" m series Vizio or 70" Samsung LED or 65" Panasonic ST or VT60 series?

@ 14' the optimal size would be 107.7" and I would personally would not opt for a LCD. If you need larger than a 65" I would look at front projectors.

My room is about 13' from wall to wall and I wall mounted my 65". Honestly I wouldn't have minded a 70" at that distance but I refuse to abandon plasma. So it depends on what you're willing to compromise on I guess. Also, how high is that fireplace? Make sure you get an angled mount if it will be up near the ceiling or more than 4 feet of the ground, even at that distance.

i sit about 6' from my 60" - too damn close (small room). I prefer how it looks when I am about 10 - 12 feel away, when viewing from my dining room

I measured recently and I'm about 9 feet back from my 65" VT60. Sometimes feels a little too close especially watching full screen, but had to compensate since I couldn't get a 70" plasma while sitting just a little further back as I had hoped for this year. Still, I might move the display just a little further back.

I am really looking at the COSTCO/SAMS CLUB 65" S64 model. Its really between the S64, ST60 and VT60. I have a couple windows on the same wall as the TV and a sliding glass door. I can probably put shades on the inside of the windows and keep those closed. Any suggestions in this configuration which would be best? 3D is a nice to have but not really required. Prices have fallen on all these models lately. At 14 feet, not sure I am going to see a difference. I liked the COSTCO/SAMS CLUB S64 because it added the Anti-Reflective Louver Filter. Is that still available? I have no windows beside me or behind me.
