I watched Gladiator again last night (haven't seen it in a long time) on my Hitachi 42HDT20, and when I switched inputs after it was over, and the black bars remained from the movie.

I played about 30 minutes of fullscreen TV, and they appear to be gone, but I was just curious if this was normal or not. One would think no, but who knows?

I watch a fair amount of 2.35:1 aspect ratio movies, both DVD and HD, but have never seen any black bars remaining on my Pio 503CMX. Have you adjusted your PDP using AVIA/DVE or Rich's Steaming Rat method? Maybe you are still in "Torch Mode".
