How is the Ps3 holding up now?

Well I kind of feel like buying a blue ray player, but I dont really know whether I should just get a ps3 or a stand alone player. I have a 360, and I dont really want or have a need for a ps3 aside from having the blue ray capabilites. The only ps3 exclusive game that I ever really wanted to play is metal gear solid 4. Im sure in the future there will be more ps3 games that tickle my fancy, but is it worth it to spend an extra $100 for a ps3 as opposed to $250-350 for a stand alone?

Is the Ps3 blue ray still comparable to newer players now? Should i bother with it?

The PS3 is still a formidable machine, but the new standalones from Sony and Panasonic are very good and if you don't need the gaming, then either will do. I have the Panny BD-55 and love it!

A better place to ask would be the Master thread.

Please use the PS3 sticky thread for all questions related to that player (or if another player peaks your interest...we have master threads for most BR players). Or, we have a sticky for seeking help in picking a player...it's titled as such.
